| Chiefs Get 6-2 Win Versus Boston | Chicago beat Boston on the strength of starting pitcher John Thomas's fine effort. The right-hander led his team to a win, 6-2. Thomas, now 3-0, was the winner. In 7.1 innings, he gave up 5 hits, while striking out 4, walking 3, and allowing 2 runs. Dutch Lane was credited with the save. He has now successfully converted 19 of 23 save opportunities.
The game was on the line with two out in the top of the eighth inning, but Dutch Lane didn't flinch. With runners on 1st and 2nd and Boston trailing 4-2, Lane retired Jack Denis to end the threat. "Nothing to it," said Lane, with a wink.
