In a low-scoring contest between the Washington Eagles and the Houston Comets, Herman White was the X factor. The Washington right-hander spearheaded the 2-1 win. Washington reliever Earl Frazier picked up the win, raising his record to 3-3. Al Bailey was tagged with the loss. Washington is 17-25 and Houston, with the loss, 25-21.

Washington used a timely hit from Chuck Moore to get the win. The shortstop stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the ninth inning to put the Eagles ahead, 2-1. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it made an impact.

"Herman is tough when he's hitting his spots," said Washington manager Joe D'Aprile.
