| Minutemen Win at Chicago, 4-2 | The Boston Minutemen rode a solid performance from 27-year-old starting pitcher Hank Springer to a win, beating the Chicago Chiefs, 4-2, at Whitney Park. Springer yielded no runs over 8 innings to notch the win. He scattered 8 hits, walked 3, and struck out 3. His record improves to 3-4. Boston, with the win, is 12-27.
Boston took a 3-0 lead on Bill Gallagher's 1st home run of the season. The 2-run home run, which Gallagher hit in the top of the ninth, left Chicago pitcher Norm Sutherland visibly frustrated.
"This level of focus will win us a lot of ballgames," Springer said after the game. | |
