| Clippers Beaten, 9-6, by Philadelphia | Harry Simmons did all he could to help his team win. In the end, though, it wasn't enough to keep the Baltimore Clippers from being beaten, 9-6, to the Philadelphia Keystones at Patapsco Field. Simmons went 2 for 2 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 2. The winner in relief was Jack Peck. He is now 1-1. The right-hander allowed no runs on no hits in 2.1 innings. George Britton earned the save, his 2nd.
Jack Hinkle's at-bat in the top of the sixth was significant, coming with the bases loaded and the game tied, 6-6. The Philadelphia catcher hit a 2-run single off Jimmy Pepper to put the Keystones up.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Hinkle told the Philadelphia Citizen.
At 18-23, the Keystones find themselves in 5th place in the Federal Association East. | |
