Miners Earn Late 3-2 Win | The Pittsburgh Miners picked up a win at Wilshire Park, knocking off the Los Angeles Suns, 3-2, in 11 innings. On the mound for Pittsburgh was right-hander Ted Mickiewicz. He played a pivotal role in the triumph. Pittsburgh pitcher Stan Davis got the win. He's now 2-2. Whitey Stewart was tagged with the loss. Hank Cook earned the save, his 7th, for the Miners.
Pittsburgh used the timely hitting of Chet Tinsley to seize the win. The catcher stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the 11th inning to put the Miners on top, 3-2. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.
"There's no quit in this team," said Miners manager Harry Barrell.
The 5th-place Miners now sit at 52-51. | |
