| Comets Earn Late 2-1 Win | The Comets grabbed a win, 2-1, at Pioneer Field III, overcoming a fine effort from St. Louis pitcher Tige Bowe. Bowe went 8 innings and allowed no runs. Bob Young earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits in 2 innings. He upped his record to 1-1. Al Bailey closed out the game, earning his 1st save.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Ernie Carter? The two-time All-Star Carter stroked a run-scoring double in the top of the tenth inning to put Houston up, 2-1. For the game, he was 2 for 5, including 1 double and 1 single.
"Baseball is such a beautiful game," said Carter. "Anything can happen on any night, and that's why you don't dwell on what happened yesterday. Just look forward and trust you're going to have positive results."
The loss drops St. Louis to 2-8. | |
