Keystones Pull Out Late-Game Win, 5-4
New York wasted an exceptional performance by pitcher Bunny Mullins, falling to the Philadelphia Keystones, 5-4. Mullins threw 7.2 innings of 3-hit ball for the losing team. The Keystones improved their record to 17-23 by beating New York.

Batting in the bottom of the ninth, 27-year old right fielder Phil James had a real shot to win the game. New York pitcher Dave Viola was determined not to let it happen. But with one out, James hit a run-scoring single. The Keystones had a walk-off triumph.

"We couldn't have scripted it any better," James said in his postgame press conference.
