Tight Tilt Goes to Cannons, 4-3 | Fans witnessed a whale of a game between the Cincinnati Cannons and Dallas Wranglers.
The Cincinnati Cannons besoiled an otherwise fine performance by Dallas third baseman Ed Hester by beating the Wranglers, 4-3, at Tice Memorial Stadium II. Hester was 3-4 with a home run and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. John Walker, the winning pitcher, improved to 5-2. He pitched 6 innings, giving up 5 hits and 3 runs, while striking out 3 and walking 4. Earning his 6th save for Cincinnati was Paul Williams.
Cincinnati catcher Ike Perry contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the sixth. With two down, he hit a sinker to center field for a run-scoring single. It was his 14th hit of the season and put the Cannons ahead, 4-3.
"We came out on the wrong end of this one," said Dallas skipper Tom Aiello.
The loss makes Dallas 18-34. | |
