| Chiefs Lose Contest, 7-2 | Detroit turned a fine outing from starter Don Lea into a victory over the Chicago Chiefs at Thompson Field. The final score was 7-2. Lea got the win, improving to 1-1. He gave up 4 hits and walked 5 over 6.2 innings. He allowed 2 runs. The Dynamos improved their record to 33-17 by beating Chicago.
Ray Waggoner, who finished 2nd in the FA in doubles with 40 last year, took Chicago hurler Fred Moore deep in the bottom of the first. His 2-run home run put the Dynamos on top, 3-1. In all, Waggoner had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 5.
"Don's stuff looked really, really crisp," said Verlin Alexander, the Dynamos manager.
