| Comets Bridle Copperheads, 3-1 | The Houston Comets, behind a great outing from George Roy, who is a two-time All-Star, defeated the Atlanta Copperheads, 3-1, at Dalton Domed Stadium. Roy yielded 1 run over 7 innings to notch the win. He scattered 4 hits, walked 1, and struck out 4. His record improves to 2-6. The save went to Bob Young, number 10 for him.
In the top of the ninth, Jack Abasi stood in the box, looking for a pitch to hammer. The Copperheads were trailing 3-1, but had runners on 1st and 2nd. That's when Bob Young made a terrific pitch and Abasi struck out. Gone was the dream of a Atlanta comeback.
