The Pittsburgh Miners cruised to a win over the Washington Eagles, 14-3, at Fitzpatrick Park. Chuck Draper led the way, going 2-for-4 for Pittsburgh. The Miners move to 50-50 with the win, while the Eagles drop to 54-46.

An inflection point occurred with two out in the bottom of the fourth. That's when Miners catcher Bob Gaines hit a sinker from Otto Caudill for a 2-run single. Just like that, Pittsburgh was up, 2-1.

"Nice to score a bunch of runs," said Gaines after the game.
