| Suns Nudge Past Keystones, 7-6 | At Liberty Coliseum, the Los Angeles Suns edged the Philadelphia Keystones, 7-6, in 15 innings. Los Angeles catcher Ed Mooney, who jolted 1 home run, was a key contributor. Ben Turnage claimed the win after being brought in from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed no runs on 3 hits in 3.2 innings. His record stands at 1-0. The first-place Suns have won 4 consecutive games.
Tommy Ashton was 1-6 for Los Angeles. The 27-year old third baseman had a key at-bat in the top of the 15th. With one out and a runner on 3rd, he broke a 6-6 tie with a run-scoring sacrifice fly off Jim Steuber. It was his 3rd RBI of the season.
"Our team showed some spunk," said Mooney. | |
