| Gothams Defeated, 7-2, After Philadelphia Rallies | The Philadelphia Keystones cut down the New York Gothams by the score of 7-2, with the largest share of the credit going to right fielder Joe Landry. Landry was 2 for 5 with 2 home runs, while adding 4 RBI and scoring twice for the Keystones. Philadelphia reliever Jim Steuber got the win, raising his record to 4-2. Herb Isom was tagged with the loss. Philadelphia, at 16-22, holds down last place in the Federal Association East.
Had Phil James not delivered a key base hit in the bottom of the eighth, the outcome might have been different. Instead, with two down and the bases loaded, James hit a 2-run single. That made the score 4-2, in favor of the Keystones.
"See ball, hit ball. When I think too much, that's when I get in trouble," Landry told the Philadelphia Citizen. | |
