Victory Over Cougars Takes Milwaukee to 26-11
Chicago got a valiant performance from pitcher Roger Alford, but it wasn't enough to beat the Milwaukee Arrows. Milwaukee won the game, 3-1. Alford threw 7.0 innings of 5-hit ball for the losing team. Mel Maddox was the winner. He's now 5-1. The loser was reigning Allen Award winner Roger Alford. The save went to Jim Hart, number 7 for him.

Milwaukee took a 3-1 lead on Jim Stogner's 3rd home run of the season. The solo home run, which Stogner hit in the top of the eighth, left Chicago pitcher Leroy Williams visibly frustrated.

Stogner attributed the win to his team's "steely resolve."

The first-place Arrows have won 7 straight.
