A 3-RBI performance from Steve Schultz, who is tied for 10th in the FA in home runs with 15, helped the St. Louis Pioneers beat the New York Gothams, 8-6. Al Grabner picked up the win in relief. Bill Howard took the loss for New York. Picking up the save was five-time All-Star John Gibson.

Schultz contributed a big hit, a 3-run home run, for St. Louis in the top of the ninth. With his team trailing 6-5, Schultz took a fastball from Bill Howard and stroked the home run to left-center. His 15th home run of the season allowed the Pioneers to leap in front, 8-6.

"You know, at the end of the day, it's about who scores the most runs," said St. Louis manager Lou Ormsby.

The Pioneers lead the Federal Association by 10 games.
