| Chiefs Earn 3-2 Win Versus Clippers | Baltimore got a big-time effort from pitcher Bob McKinney, but it wasn't enough to keep the Chicago Chiefs from winning the game, 3-2. McKinney threw 7.0 innings of 4-hit ball for the losing team. The win went to Norm Sutherland in relief, making him now 2-1. Mike Dunlavy took the loss for Baltimore. The Chiefs bumped their record to 24-20 with this win.
Who knows how it would've ended, had it not been for Rankin Ziegler? The 26-year old shortstop Ziegler stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the eighth inning to put Chicago up, 3-2. For the game, he was 3 for 4, including 1 double and 2 singles.
"Every loss hurts," said Baltimore manager Hank Luckenbaugh. "But this was a tough one." | |
