| San Francisco Offense Jammed Up by Kings | Seattle took on San Francisco in a contest which featured a pitchers' duel. John Howell, in particular, was fantastic. The Seattle right-hander helped his team snag the win, 3-1. Billy Collins picked up the save, his 8th. The losing streak for San Francisco has now reached 4 games.
Jesse Walker was 3 for 4 with 3 singles. He drove in 3 runs for Seattle. The three-time All-Star had a key at-bat in the bottom of the third. With one out and runners on 2nd and 3rd, he broke a 0-0 tie with a 2-run single off Elmer Peters. It was his 30th hit of the season.
"Main thing is I want the team to win," Howell told a reporter after the game. "Just have to go out there, take care of my job, and give my team a chance to win."
