| Mavericks Reel In 4-1 Win | Fred Smith pitched a dandy of a game to help the Kansas City Mavericks beat the Dallas Wranglers, 4-1. Smith, now 1-1, was the winner. In 8 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 4, walking 1, and allowing 1 run. The victory puts Kansas City at 14-28.
The Mavericks got a big hit from catcher Bobby Frost. Facing Dallas pitcher Pete Rosenbaum in the bottom of the sixth, Frost pounded a 3-run home run to right. His 6th home run of the season put the Mavericks ahead, 4-0.
"Fred giving us the start that he did was huge," said Kansas City manager Sakan Hashizume.
