Late Offense Lifts Boston to 3-2 Victory
The New York Gothams could not turn a fine performance from pitcher Bunny Mullins into a win. Instead, the Boston Minutemen prevailed, 3-2. Mullins threw 7.2 innings of 6-hit ball. Bud Shireman snagged the win in relief. The left-hander allowed 1 run on 3 hits over 2 innings. He's now 2-0 on the season. The win boosted Boston to 24-15.

The defining moment came in the bottom of the ninth for Boston. That's when Bobby Martinez hit a run-scoring double off 27-year old right-handed pitcher Jeff Pettigrew to win the game. The home crowd went wild.

"We had the right guys up at the right times," said New York manager Charlie Foley. "We just didn't cash in."
