| Clippers Post 5-2 Win | At Peachtree Stadium, the Atlanta Copperheads and Baltimore Clippers were greeted by an enthusiastic crowd.
The Baltimore Clippers beat the Atlanta Copperheads, 5-2. Baltimore pitcher and Gary, Indiana, native Pat Fortier led the way. The winning pitcher was Fortier, now 1-1. He tossed 8 innings of 5-hit ball, while walking 1 and fanning 3. Jimmy Pepper notched his 5th save of the season.
Baltimore used the hitting of Buddy Rice to pick up the win. The catcher clubbed a 2-run home run in the top of the second inning to put the Clippers on top, 2-0. For the game, Rice had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.
"It's about putting our team in the best position to win ballgames," said Fortier.
Baltimore has now won 3 straight, while the Copperheads have lost 3 in a row.
