| Cincinnati Defeated by Los Angeles, 4-0 | Vean Conrad was masterful in helping the Los Angeles Stars take down the Cincinnati Cannons, 4-0. The winner was Conrad. He threw 8.1 innings of shutout ball. The loser was Ace Barrell. Today's win puts Los Angeles at 19-21, while Cincinnati falls to 19-19.
Lew Smith had a big run-scoring double for the Stars in the bottom of the third inning. With Los Angeles leading 1-0 and a runner on 1st, he got a changeup from Ace Barrell, who is tied for 10th in the CA in complete games with 1, and swatted a double to left-center. It was his 6th double of the season, and more importantly, it put the Stars ahead, 2-0.
"Enjoyed this one," Smith told the Los Angeles Today. "But it's back to work tomorrow."
