| Toronto Edges Cincinnati, 2-1 | Hurler Ray Eddy gave the Toronto Wolves a solid start. The native of Marion, Indiana helped his team defeat the Cincinnati Cannons, 2-1, at Dominion Stadium. Toronto reliever Ray Smith was the winner. His record is now 3-3. Vern Osborne took the loss. The Cannons, now 17-19, have lost 4 in a row.
Sid Cullen, who finished 3rd in the CA in home runs with 38 in 1970, took Cincinnati hurler Chet Gearhart deep in the bottom of the seventh. His 2-run home run put the Wolves on top, 2-0. In all, Cullen had 1 single in addition to the home run, while going 2 for 3.
