Phil Terry impressed in the 5-4 New York win over Toronto. Terry, who finished 3rd in the CA in home runs with 28 in 1972, went 2-3 with a home run and a walk. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. New York reliever Ed Cooper picked up the win, upping his record to 1-0. Ray Smith took the loss. The win gives New York a record of 5-3.

New York took a 5-4 lead on Freddy Curtis's 1st home run of the season. The 3-run home run, which Curtis hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Toronto pitcher Ray Smith visibly frustrated.
