| Copperheads Handed 7-3 Loss | A 3-RBI performance from center fielder Harry Simmons, who finished 5th in the FA in home runs with 28 last year, led the Baltimore Clippers to a win over the Atlanta Copperheads, 7-3. Sonny Stoyer earned the win after being summoned from the bullpen. The right-hander allowed 2 runs on 5 hits in 4.1 innings. He upped his record to 3-2. The third-place Clippers lifted their record to 18-20.
With Baltimore leading 1-0 in the top of the first, Simmons hit a forkball from Marco Middleton for a 3-run home run. It was his 2nd home run of the season and put the Clippers ahead, 4-0.
"Pleased with the effort and the win," said Clippers manager Hank Luckenbaugh. | |
