| Comets Lose to Chiefs in Walk-Off | The Chicago Chiefs got their 1975 season off and running with a win over the Houston Comets at Whitney Park. The final score was 2-1 in 12 innings. Chicago pitcher Otis Hawkins, in particular, had a fine performance. Frank Carmichael came out of the bullpen to earn the win. The right-hander allowed no runs on 4 hits in 2 innings. His record now stands at 1-0.
The Chiefs got a clutch hit from third baseman Ricardo Castillo. In the bottom of the 12th, he delivered a run-scoring single to win the game for the Chiefs.
Hawkins described the clubhouse as "kind of rowdy" after the game. | |
