Chicago's Mitchell Goes Ballistic with 5 Hits
Tuesday, September 19th , 1950
It was high-fives all around for Leo Mitchell at Cougars Park today.

He got them from his teammates and he got them at the plate during an outstanding hitting performance against the Philadelphia Sailors. Mitchell smashed 5 hits in 5 at-bats on his monster day, leading his club to a 9-3 win.

"Leo was hitting everything," said Cougars manager Max Wilder. "It really was a special game for him."

In the opposing dugout, Sailors manager Ernie Sprenkle told BNN beat writers that Mitchell "ambushed" the club.

"Obviously we didn't have much success against him, but we'll have another chance," the skipper said. "Hopefully, Mitchell oversleeps next time."

Leo Mitchell singled in the 1st, singled in the 3rd, singled in the 5th, singled in the 7th and hit an RBI double in the 8th.

Mitchell is hitting .337 for the season with 13 home runs, 71 RBIs and 68 runs scored. He has 160 hits in 475 at-bats and played in 125 games.
