| Bradshaw Baffles Philadelphia Batters Wednesday, June 23rd , 1943 It wasn't easy but the Washington Eagles made it look that way.
Starter Les Bradshaw shut out the Philadelphia Keystones despite having what he later called "sub-par" stuff, and the Washington Eagles cruised to victory, 3-0. Bradshaw allowed only 4 hits and rang up 10 strikeouts but insisted later that he did not deserve primary credit for the win.
"It didn't feel quite right today, but I got a lot of help to get through," he said. "I trusted my catcher and the guys behind me bailed me out more than once when I screwed up."
So far this season, Bradshaw has logged a 5-5 record with a 4.25 ERA. He has started 12 games, hurled 78.1 innings and registered 44 strikeouts and 41 walks.
