Minutemen Stymie Pittsburgh, Take 8-1 Win | The Boston Minutemen topped the Pittsburgh Miners, 8-1, in Federal Association action at Minuteman Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Boston pitcher and Atlanta, Georgia, native Tom Martin. Pittsburgh, now 3-12, continues its dreadful start.
The Minutemen got an important contribution from second baseman Buddy Schneider, who in the bottom of the fourth punched a 1-0 changeup into center for a 2-run double. It was his 7th double of the season and put the Minutemen ahead, 3-0.
"I'm just happy to help the team win," Martin told the Boston Citizen. | |
