Home Field Advantage: Ninomiya, Nagasaki Open BAN Championship Series with Win
The Nagasaki Stars started the BAN Championship Series in style today, downing the visiting Kyoto Owls at Nagasaki Prefecture Stadium by a score of 7-3 to grab an early 1-0 lead in the best-of-7 series. Stars third baseman Hidetsugu Ninomiya went 4-4 with 4 singles, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 3.

Yasukatsu Arakawa, who led the WL in runs with 95 in 1950, aided the Nagasaki cause with a run-scoring double in the bottom of the fifth. For the game, the first baseman went 3-4 with 2 doubles. He scored 2 times and drove in 2.

"I just tried to see the ball and put a good swing on it," said Ninomiya.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Nagasaki Prefecture Stadium in Nagasaki.
