| Saints Get One-Run Win at Philadelphia | Montreal starter Wally Doyle had a strong outing against the Philadelphia Sailors at Sailors Memorial Stadium. The left-hander was a big part of his team's 3-2 win. Doyle got the win, improving to 5-5. He allowed 6 hits and walked 4 over 8 innings. Doyle allowed 2 runs. Lee Richardson closed the door for Montreal, picking up his 4th save of the year.
Joe Austin, the 1949 Kellogg Award winner , had a direct impact on the outcome. Austin contributed a 2-run single in the top of the second inning to put Montreal up, 3-0.
