Bears Come Up Short at Kyoto, 7-6
The rain could not keep the home crowd from enjoying a good ballgame.

The Kyoto Owls weathered a fine game by Sapporo third baseman Kuniyasu Ishii to upend the Bears, 7-6, at Owls Park. Ishii was 2-5 with a home run, while adding 3 RBI and scoring once. Kyoto reliever Ikuo Kanazawa picked up the win, upping his record to 3-2. Kinzo Yoshimura took the loss.

Kyoto took a 7-6 lead on Tenshou Asao's 14th double of the season. The run-scoring double, which Asao hit in the bottom of the seventh, left Sapporo pitcher Kinzo Yoshimura visibly frustrated.

"It wasn't a pretty victory," said Asao, "but we got it done."

Kyoto goes to 63-59. The win puts them 2 games up in their division.
