| Bears Fall Short, 4-3, at Kyoto | The Kyoto Owls did just enough to secure a victory over the Sapporo Bears, 4-3, at Owls Park. Nobody did more than pitcher Dan Rivard. Kyoto now owns a record of 41-38.
Shinji Kishida hit a 2-run triple off Kinzo Yoshimura in the bottom of the eighth, which put the Owls in front, 4-2. Kishida had 1 single, in addition to the triple. For the game, he went 2 for 4.
"We were the better team today. Maybe that won't be the case next game, but we'll enjoy it for now," Rivard told the Kyoto Today.
