| Owls Top Bears to Even Record | Both teams had their opportunities, but in the end, the Kyoto Owls got the win.
Kyoto Owls starter Takayuki Kumasaka turned in a sterling performance against the Sapporo Bears, leading his team to a slim 3-2 win. Sapporo's current losing streak is now 6 games.
The Owls got an important contribution from third baseman Noriyuki Okamoto, who in the bottom of the third hit a slider into left for a run-scoring triple. It was his 7th triple of the season and put the Owls ahead, 3-0.
"As well as we've been playing, I think we can play even better," said Kyoto manager Kazuyuki Kamiichi.
