The Oakland Grays took Dallas pitcher George Rotondi's best shot and still were able to claim a win at Centurions Ballpark. The final score had Oakland getting past the Centurions, 5-4. Rotondi went 7 innings and allowed 2 runs, striking out 2. Oakland reliever Bill Douglass was the winner. His record is now 7-5. Mac Watters took the loss. The Great Western League-leading Grays are 67-41.

Oakland needed the clutch hitting of Clyde Zimmerman to notch the win. The left fielder hammered a solo home run in the top of the ninth inning to put the Grays on top, 5-4. For the game, Zimmerman had 1 home run and 1 single in 4 at-bats.

"It was our day today," Zimmerman told the Oakland Daily. "But we've got to keep our nose to the grindstone."
