Gothams Get Past Pittsburgh for 6-5 Win
Bunny Hufford had a hand in New York defeating Pittsburgh by the score of 6-5. Hufford went 3 for 3 at the plate, scoring 2 times and driving in 2 runs. Steve Groves, now 2-0, was credited with the win. He allowed no runs on no hits, while striking out 0 and walking 1. The loss drops the Miners to 13-19.

The game came to an abrupt end with two out in the bottom of the ninth. On a pitch from Bill Traylor, Walt Messer hit a run-scoring single. It gave New York the 6-5 win.

"This place was rocking at the end," Hufford said.
