Gothams Reel Off Another Win | The New York Gothams racked up a win at Gotham Stadium, bumping off the St. Louis Pioneers, 7-4. Ed Bowman, who started for New York, pitched effectively for his team. Bowman, now 19-5, was the winner. In 9 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 3, walking 1, and allowing 4 runs. The first-place Gothams have won 6 in a row.
In the bottom of the sixth, New York second baseman Tom Jeffries put his team on top. With two out and the bases loaded, he hit his 33rd double of the year. St. Louis pitcher Danny Hern served it up. Just like that, the Gothams were ahead, 6-4.
"We took advantage of our opportunities," Jeffries told the New York Daily News. "It's as simple as that." | |
