Pitcher Buckeye Smith was rock solid in helping the Washington Eagles beat the Boston Minutemen, 2-1. Washington bumps their record to 57-52 with the win.

In the bottom of the sixth, Washington center fielder Rats McGonigle gave his team the lead. With two out and a runner on 2nd, The Ringer From Stringer hit his 20th home run of the year. Boston pitcher Alf Keeter surrendered it. With that, the Eagles jumped in front, 2-1.

"Buckeye did a tremendous job," said Washington manager Frank Conner.
