Gothams Beat Chicago, 3-2 | The New York Gothams faced a tough opponent in Chicago pitcher Johnny Duncan, but did just enough to pull out the victory at Whitney Park by a final score of 3-2. Duncan went 11 innings and allowed 2 runs. New York reliever Jimmy Maness got the win, raising his record to 1-0. Ralph Kendall was tagged with the loss. The win elevated the Gothams to 45-28.
Walt Messer, the four-time All-Star , had a direct impact on the outcome. Messer contributed a run-scoring single in the top of the 12th inning to put New York up, 3-2.
