The 1950 season did not get off to quite the start the Boston Minutemen had hoped, with an opening day loss to the Philadelphia Keystones at Minuteman Stadium. The final score was 7-3. Starting Pitcher Lloyd Stevens was the top performer for Philadelphia.

With Philadelphia leading 4-2 in the top of the sixth, Stevens hit a 2-run single off Boston hurler Ray Dalpman. It was the 1st hit of the season for Stevens and put his team ahead, 6-2.

"This kind of win will certainly make our fans happy," Stevens told the Philadelphia Citizen.
