| Kings Drop Sailors, 11-5 | A good performance from second baseman John Wells helped the Kansas City Kings defeat the San Francisco Sailors, 11-5. Wells was 2-3 with a home run, while scoring 2 runs and driving in 4 for the Kings. Jack Miller, now 1-1, was credited with the win in 3.2 innings of relief. He allowed no runs on 3 hits, while striking out 1 and walking 0. Kansas City is in third place in the Continental Association with a record of 30-24.
Tied up with the Sailors in the bottom of the fourth inning, the Kings got a boost from center fielder Charlie Rogers. With runners on 2nd and 3rd, Rogers saw a 1-2 fastball from Sam Franklin and hit a 2-run single to break the stalemate and put Kansas City on top, 7-5.
"When there are games to be won, you win them," said Kansas City manager Glenn Carney.
