Minutemen Beat Visiting Dynamos, 4-1 | The Boston Minutemen topped the Detroit Dynamos, 4-1, in Federal Association action at Minuteman Stadium. The standout performance belonged to Boston pitcher and Murfreesboro, Tennessee, native Don Griffin. Griffin, now 8-4, was the winner. In 7 innings, he gave up 6 hits, while striking out 2, walking 4, and allowing 1 run. Ed Morris was credited with the save, his 2nd in 2 tries.
The Minutemen got a big at-bat from shortstop Joe Kleman. For the game, Kleman went 1 for 4 with a home run. He drove in 2 runs and scored once. In the bottom of the first, with a runner on 3rd, he stroked a 2-run home run. His 5th home run of the season gave Boston a 2-0 lead.
"In baseball, you have your ups and downs," said Detroit manager Verlin Alexander. "You just try to stay level-headed the whole time."
