The rain made it unbearable at times; nonetheless, the faithful who endured the elements enjoyed themselves.

The Cincinnati Cannons picked up a win at Tice Memorial Stadium II, knocking off the Montreal Saints, 5-2. Starting pitcher Marco Middleton played a key role in the triumph. Middleton, now 5-2, was the winner. In 6.2 innings, he gave up 4 hits, while striking out 8, walking 1, and allowing no runs.

Cincinnati second baseman Babe Booth contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a knuckleball to left field for a run-scoring single. It was his 47th hit of the season and put the Cannons ahead, 1-0.

"If you pitch well, you give yourself some opportunities," said Cincinnati manager Hal Upton.

The winning streak has now reached 5 games for the Cannons.
