Wolves Grind Out 2-1 Win | Toronto got a first-rate effort from pitcher Phil Colantuono, who frustrated Montreal hitters en route to a 2-1 Wolves triumph at Stade Montreal. In 8 innings, Colantuono surrendered 5 hits, while striking out 4 and walking 0. He allowed 1 run. Zeke Blake closed it out for Toronto, earning his 2nd save.
Ed Savage, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1959 draft, had a direct impact on the outcome. Savage contributed a run-scoring walk in the top of the sixth inning to put Toronto up, 2-1.
"We were in it," said Montreal manager Johnny Gilbert. "We just didn't score enough runs."
So far, the 1963 season has been disappointing for Montreal, now 4-6. | |
