Miners Earn Late Win
In a close game at Fitzpatrick Park, the Pittsburgh Miners edged the Boston Minutemen, 4-3. Pittsburgh left fielder Bill Newhall stood apart with his performance. He went 3-4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 runs and drove in 2. The second-place Miners lifted their record to 32-22.

Pittsburgh took the lead, 4-3, on Dick Steel's 7th home run of the season. The 2-run home run came off Boston pitcher Alf Keeter in the bottom of the eighth.

"No disrespect to the other team," said Pittsburgh manager Jim Adams Sr.. "But it's nice to get an easy win."
