Saints Beat San Francisco, 5-4
The San Francisco Sailors and Montreal Saints provided some drama for the home crowd.

The Montreal Saints finished off the San Francisco Sailors, 5-4. Much of the credit belonged to third baseman Andy Gilman. Gilman went 3 for 4 with a home run and a double. He scored 2 times for the Saints. Montreal reliever Cliff Dinger was the winner. His record is now 1-1. Eddie Chapman took the loss. Hank Myer earned the save for Montreal, his 2nd.

Montreal used the timely hitting of Bill Gilman to seize the win. The pinch hitter stroked a run-scoring single in the top of the ninth inning to put the Saints on top, 5-4. It was his only hit in 1 at-bat, but it was a game-changer.

"It doesn't matter if you're 10 games over .500 or 10 games under, it feels good to win," Gilman told the Montreal Daily News.

The Saints saw their win-loss record go to 18-22. At the same time, the Sailors fell to 21-20.
