| Reliables Come Up Short at Tokyo Rakisuta, 6-5 | The Nagoya Hosho Reliables got a superb performance from left fielder Tsuyoshi Tomaki. Still, it wasn't enough to beat Tokyo Rakisuta. The Rams won the game, 6-5. Tomaki went 3 for 5 with a triple and a double. He scored 2 times and drove in 2. Tokuzo Osugi, credited with the win, is now 7-4. He allowed 5 runs on 11 hits in 9 innings. The victory gives Tokyo Rakisuta a record of 48-35.
Nariyuki Hamada was 1 for 4 for Tokyo Rakisuta. The 31-year old center fielder had a key at-bat in the bottom of the seventh. With one out and runners on 1st and 3rd, he broke a 4-4 tie with a run-scoring ground out off Toshio Iwamoto. It was his 32nd RBI of the season.
"You've got to ride the highs and the lows in baseball in order to succeed," Hamada told the Tokyo Rakisuta Daily News. "Right now I'm feeling good, but that don't mean squat for tomorrow."
