Foresters Trounce Imperials, 12-2 | 1963 is shaping up to be a forgettable year for the New York Imperials.
Sherry Doyal made an impact in the 12-2 Cleveland win over New York. Doyal, who led the CA in home runs with 30 in 1951, went 3-5 with a home run and 2 singles. He scored 3 times and drove in 2. The 7th-place Foresters bumped their record to 78-81.
Cleveland catcher Al Robinson contributed a timely at-bat in the bottom of the fourth. With two down, he hit a fastball to left field for a 2-run single. It was his 8th hit of the season and put the Foresters ahead, 4-0.
"Sometimes, the runs just come in bunches," said winning manager Jim Whitehead. | |
