Wolves Lambaste Cannons, 14-2
The Toronto Wolves routed the Cincinnati Cannons, 14-2, at Dominion Stadium. Ed Savage, who was drafted in the 2nd round of the 1959 draft, was one of the hitting stars. He went 3-4 with a home run, 2 singles, and a walk, while scoring 2 times and driving in 5 for Toronto. The winning pitcher was Phil Colantuono. He's now 6-3. He went 9 innings, allowing 2 runs on 7 hits for the Wolves. The victory gives the Wolves a record of 77-77.

With Toronto leading 1-0 in the bottom of the second, Savage hit a sinker from Jimmy Block for a grand slam home run. It was his 10th home run of the season and put the Wolves ahead, 5-0.

"Not my idea of a good time," Cincinnati manager Buddy Baumgart said, when asked afterward about the game.
