Cleveland Tags San Francisco with 6-5 Defeat
The Cleveland Foresters beat the San Francisco Sailors, 6-5, in part because of left fielder Tom Carr. He went 3 for 5 with a triple and a double, while adding 2 RBI and scoring once. The winning pitcher was five-time Allen Award winner Adrian Czerwinski. He tossed 139 pitches over 7 innings, allowing 5 runs on 9 hits. Johnny Ogden earned his 30th save in 37 chances.

With Cleveland leading 1-0 in the top of the second, Carr hit a changeup from Larry Knez for a 2-run triple. It was his 20th triple of the season and put the Foresters ahead, 3-0.

"We take it day by day here," said Carr, "and today was a good one for us."

Cleveland raised its record to 86-68 with the win.
