Kings Nip Sailors, 4-3 | The Kansas City Kings topped the San Francisco Sailors, 4-3, in Continental Association action at Prairie Park. The standout performance belonged to Kansas City pitcher and San Jose, California, native Johnnie Higgins. Kansas City, at 106-46, is 12½ games up in the Continental Association.
The Kings got a big at-bat from first baseman Al Farmer. For the game, Farmer went 1-3 with a home run, while adding 4 RBI and scoring once. In the bottom of the fourth, with the bases loaded, he stroked a grand slam home run. His 16th home run of the season gave Kansas City a 4-2 lead.
After the game, Kansas City manager Glenn Carney applauded the team's effort. "They busted their humps out there," he said. | |
