Hackberry Lifts Sailors to 12-6 Win | San Francisco right fielder Edwin Hackberry was instrumental in helping the Sailors triumph, 12-6, over the New York Imperials. Hackberry was 3 for 5 with a home run, a double, and a walk. He drove in 4 runs and scored once. Zane Kelley got credit for the win, improving to 11-7. He allowed 6 runs on 12 hits in 7.1 innings. The Sailors, at 83-65, sit in 4th place in the Continental Association.
San Francisco used a well-timed hit by Larry McLaren to capture the win. The catcher socked a bases-clearing double in the top of the fifth inning to put the Sailors ahead, 8-4. Though it was his only hit in 4 at-bats, it was important.
"Some wins are easy and some are difficult, but either way we come to the ballpark ready to work hard every day," Hackberry told the San Francisco Chronicle. | |
