Cleaves Blasts Foresters, Gothams Take Game 4, 18-3
New York catcher George Cleaves was the difference-maker for the Gothams in what turned into a shootout with the Cleveland Foresters. Cleaves earned accolades after going 5-for-5 in the 18-3 Gothams win. With the victory, the Gothams moved into a 2-2 tie in the best-of-7 series.

Ed Bowman dealt the Foresters a blow in the bottom of the fourth. Batting with the bases loaded and New York leading 2-1, Bowman, who finished 4th in the FA in wins with 18 in 1947, hit a 1-0 splitter for a run-scoring single.

"Nice to score a bunch of runs," said Cleaves after the game.

The next game is set to be played tomorrow at Gotham Stadium in New York.
