Miners Fall to Eagles Late
The Washington Eagles earned a win at Columbia Stadium, knocking off the Pittsburgh Miners, 5-2. On the bump for Washington was right-hander Wally Phillips. He had a starring role in the triumph. Washington pitcher Otto Caudill earned the win, hiking his record to 2-2. Clay Buddemeyer suffered the loss. Washington is still hoping to get on a roll. The win is just their 7th in 19 games.

Washington took a 3-2 lead on Enos Bailey's 1st triple of the season. The run-scoring triple, which Bailey hit in the bottom of the eighth, left Pittsburgh pitcher Clay Buddemeyer visibly frustrated.

"It was a solid team effort," Bailey said. "That's usually what it takes to win."
